UPCYCLED EXCESS PREMIUM LEATHER
UPCYCLED EXCESS PREMIUM LEATHER
All our bags are handcrafted with excess leather pieces from the most exclusive leathers that are too small for making designer furniture or car seats, but that works perfectly to make Cloudberry bags. We use the most expensive cowhides in the world, the Scandinavian. The reason is their outstanding quality. The cool Nordic climate is largely free of harmful parasites that can otherwise hurt the animal, and together with knowledge, experience, and good animal husbandry that meets the strict national and international regulations on animal welfare, an exclusive cowhide with a soft and elegant touch is the result.
The leather we use is a by-product from the meat- and dairy industries. It is chrome-free and vegetable-tanned at a Scandinavian tannery that is a world leader in its sustainable leather production. Since the ‘80s, the tannery only uses water-based finish coatings and is 100% CO2 neutral on energy.
The tannery has a water treatment plant, where by-products from the tanning ensure their energy consumption. After the tanning process, the water is purified and comes out cleaner than it was before, and can be used as drinking water in the local region. All cowhides from our tannery can be traceable back to the farm.
We use two types of semi-aniline leathers that are originally made for furniture and therefore meet strict requirements in terms of durability and endurance.

A SMOOTH SURFACE SEMI-ANILINE LEATHER
This is a vegetable-tanned durable full grain semi-aniline leather that is soft and pliable with a less pronounced surface structure. The smooth surface brings forth an exclusive and elegant feeling.
A SEMI-ANILINE LEATHER WITH A DISTINCT SURFACE STRUCTURE
This is a vegetable-tanned durable full grain semi-aniline leather with a sturdy structure, distinct character, and personality.
