Opposition crushing spirit of Constitution, spreading propaganda against NDA: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticised opposition parties, accusing them of engaging in propaganda against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and undermining the principles of the Constitution. Speaking to BJP workers, he charged the opposition with rejecting democratic norms in their desperation to regain power.
PM Modi claimed that opposition parties, deprived of power at the Centre for the past decade, are now focused solely on misleading the public.
“Those who consider power as their birthright have not been in power at the Centre for the last decade. The spirit of the Constitution is crushed by them, and all the norms of democracy are rejected,” he said in a sharp rebuke.
While acknowledging that ideological differences among political parties are natural, the PM expressed concern over what he called an alarming shift in the opposition’s conduct. He argued that dissent has turned into deliberate attempts to damage the country’s democratic image.
“There has been a big change as attempts are being made to tarnish the image of our democracy and the Constitution,” he said.
The Prime Minister accused the opposition of spreading lies and rumours to mislead the public, describing such efforts as a major challenge for the country. He called on BJP workers and citizens to actively counter these actions.
“Those who love the country and respect the Constitution should foil such attempts and expose the lies,” he urged.
During his address, PM Modi also highlighted the BJP’s contributions to Odisha, even when not in power in the state. He pointed to the party’s electoral achievements in Odisha, Haryana, and Maharashtra as examples of its growing influence and resilience.
“The Odisha poll results surprised many big political experts, who had completely rejected the idea of BJP forming a government in the state,” he said, emphasising the strength of the party’s workers.
He also took pride in the historic elevation of Odisha’s tribal leader, Droupadi Murmu, to the presidency, hailing it as a testament to the BJP’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
“I am happy that, due to the efforts of the BJP, Odisha’s tribal daughter Droupadi Murmu ji is the President of the country today. This has boosted the confidence of daughters from all sections of society. Her journey will inspire many generations to come,” he added.
